The early variety of Persimmons - Jiro - are now ready as are the quinces. They are both $5/kg. The apples remain on $4kg The apples ready for picking right now are Golden Delicious, Fuji and Granny Smith with a few Jonagold still on the trees. The orchard is very muddy so wear suitable foot ware and judging by the forecast umbrellas may again be needed this weekend. I have some interest in the Bush tours and if I get another 3 people for Saturday April 1 will conduct one at a mutually convenient time on that day. Click on the link on the left for more details.

I know you are all waiting for Persimmons and Pink Lady apples but for the next 2 weeks it will Golden Delicious, Chinese Pears and Fuji apples with Granny Smith also starting this weekend and they are great. We expect to have chestnuts from March 25 and walnuts the following week. The big wet has left the orchard saturated and muddy so bring suitable boots or other foot ware. The apples love the rain and the ducks are back on the dams which are now full.

Following the heat wave, during which the apples ripened quickly and few customers braved the heat to pick them, there are lots of ripe Gala apples to pick. The pears are also at their peak with red, green and brown european pears ready and brown and yellow nashi now crisp and juicy straight off the tree. So come and enjoy the orchard this weekend and pick fruit at its very best. A reminder for those interested in our bush botany tours you need to book in advance.

Gala Apples are now ripe and ready for picking as the peach season draws to a close. Our other news - we now have an eftpos machine and can accept most credit or debit cards. Our Williams and Red Sensation pears are also to pick. Remember these European pears (unlike Nashi pears) need to be picked green, cooled in your fridge for at least 2 days and then brought out to ripen.
